Principal's Welcome
Tēnā koutou & Greetings to you all.
Welcome to Waiau Pa School!
My name is Leon Van't Veen - Gibbon, the students call me 'Mr V' and I am the very proud principal of Waiau Pa School. I am hugely excited to be leading the learning in a vibrant, inclusive and forward thinking school.
Learning is our core business at Waiau Pa school, and this happens on a daily basis for both students and staff.
We are a community of life long learners.
My main focus is on promoting success for all students by providing opportunities for growth (educational, social and emotional) with “wrap around support” for students and families where needed. I believe it is important for children to develop strong relationships with others through learning and social interaction.
My strength and passion as a teacher is in the performing arts, and therefore I am looking forward to leading school wide performing arts experiences that develop confidence academically, socially and emotionally.
I feel very strongly about the importance of school being a learning community for all, and will closely work alongside staff - both teachers, support & specialist, BOT and families/whānau to create a school where children feel safe and enjoy many opportunities for learning, growth, celebration and success.
At Waiau Pa School we BELIEVE Whakapono, we BELONG Whakamana, and we BECOME Whakanui - the very best we can be.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about our place!
Ngā Mihi
Leon Van't Veen - Gibbon
