The Waiau Pā School Event Centre started construction in 2001 with funding from the Ministry of Education, funding through school, community events and generous benefactors.
Primarily used as the school's main hall, music facility and sports center during school hours, it is also able to be hired by the public and sports groups for events and club activities.
With a full-sized basketball court, outdoor netball court, large spacious main hall with a stage and outdoor fields for sports, the Waiau Pā School Event Centre has a lot to offer.
Our Event Centre is open to be hired by the community or sports groups and is available all year round when the school is not utilizing it.
We have a collection of regular users who use the hall during their sport seasons and a couple of community groups who hire the hall throughout the year, but we still have spaces open for more.
We have previously hosted award ceremonies, production evenings, discos, concerts, movie nights, science roadshows, weddings, funerals, birthday parties, fund raising events, sports events, school fundraisers, quiz nights, local markets and food truck nights and even had overnight accommodation for visiting schools, and many other unique events.
The space has certain amenities, such as tables, chairs, a projector and sound system, with wired and wireless microphones available, and a stage lighting rig, a full kitchen with cooking facilities and heated pie warmer, several bathroom stalls.
If you are looking for a large location with plenty of amenities, then we may have the space for you.

Bookings are tight on weekdays with local sports clubs and teams, but we can usually find a time that works for most events.
Please complete the attached application form and email this to exec.officer@waiaupa.school.nz and we will endeavor to reply as quickly as we can to let you know if your booking is possible.
Below that are the hire conditions for the booking. Please ensure you also read these and sign the document.
