What a wonderful day we had celebrating Grandparents’ Day at Waiau Pā! It was so special to see our school filled with whānau, laughter, and stories being shared across the generations. The joy on our tamariki’s faces as they welcomed their grandparents and special visitors was priceless.

Adding to the fun, our Book Character Dress-Up Day was a huge hit! From wizards and superheroes to fairy-tale favourites, the creativity and enthusiasm were on full display. It was fantastic to see families getting involved and supporting the magic of reading in such a colourful way.

Ngā mihi nui to everyone who came along and helped make the day such a memorable celebration of learning, family, and community.

Our Matariki Showcase was a truly magical celebration of the arts and talents of our tamariki. From kapa haka and waiata to dance, drama, and visual arts, the evening was a vibrant display of creativity and pride. The performances captured the spirit of Matariki—connection, reflection, and new beginnings—while highlighting the incredible skills and confidence of our students. It was a beautiful way to come together as a community and celebrate the unique gifts of our rangatahi. 

This year's celebration of Matariki involved a traditional hāngī prepared with help from so many members of the school community that all chipped in with their support. We also had a number of activities running for the day so that all children could experience traditional weaving, pui pui making, tī rākau, harakeke, poi and more! We ended the day with a special assembly to show off our new kapa haka uniforms as our fabulous kapa haka took to the stage, finishing the day off with a shared lunch for everyone. A very heart-warming community event!
